Jonathan Wilson is, with Rob Draper, one of the two presenters of the football history podcast It Was What It Was.

Wilson was one of the seven voices who launch the Libero podcast in 2025.
Since 2008, he has been a regular guest on the Guardian’s Football Weekly podcast, which has been named Podcast of the Year 11 times at the FSA Awards. In 2023, he edited the Football Weekly book.

He is often to be heard on the Second Captains, Indo Sport and Off the Ball podcasts in Ireland.
In 2025, Wilson began a series of animations in association with Tifo, entitled The Entire History of Football
He has been a talking head on a range of documentaries, including Messi (BBC), Lionel Messi: Destiny (BBC), Once in a Lifetime: Argentina (Copa 90), Croatia: Defining a Nation (Fifa), and Italia 90: Four Weeks that Changed the World.

He also devised, scripted, and voiced the animated film Keepers for A Game of Three Halves.
